Teachers using the Iyengar name must be fully qualified and certificated by the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. Only bona fide Iyengar Yoga teachers can use the Certification Mark.

Iyengar Yoga teachers are qualified according to strict guidelines, which promote safety and high standards in their classes. All Iyengar Yoga teachers are experienced practitioners of yoga who have completed rigorous assessments of their teaching and of their own yoga practice.

Only Iyengar Yoga teachers teach genuine Iyengar Yoga; they do not mix methods, so you can be sure of safe teaching.

Teachers and the B.K.S. Iyengar Certification Mark

CertificationCertificated teachers of Iyengar Yoga have been trained to teach yoga according to the method of B.K.S. Iyengar. Our teaching methods are refined continuously by himself, and taught by a large community of teachers in India and all over the World

A certificated Iyengar Yoga Teacher follows a precisely graded syllabus, learning detailed knowledge of the postures and sequences as well as the use of props and supports to create the safe correct alignment of the body.

In the U.K high standards of teaching are ensured by a system of examinations and continuous assessment within the Iyengar Yoga Association of the United Kingdom (I.Y.A U.K)

In 2004 all teachers on the AIYI list will hold the certification mark, which legally entitles them to teach the genuine methods of B.K.S Iyengar.
