Avon Iyengar Yoga Institute Events and Workshops

As well as the twice yearly magazine and information about our teachers and the classes they offer, membership of the AIYI offers you workshops at a discounted rate with local teachers and day long sessions with some of our most experienced teachers from around the country. Much of the experience these senior teachers bring us comes directly from Pune and the Iyengar family at our parent institute, the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, named for our guru's late wife.

The workshop environment allows time to explore some of the deeper aspects of yoga practice. You will notice themes developing which will feed into your regular classes and practice (if you don't practice at home yet, ask your teacher how to get started). Different levels of experience will be catered for - the level of experience required will be made clear. But please don't be deterred by the length of these classes, especially if you are a beginner - beginners workshops are for you! It's the slow but steady nature of this practice that gives the strength and stamina for which yoga so well known.

If you have any concerns over health or injury issues, please make these clear beforehand.

Bringing your own equipment helps considerably. If you don't yet possess any there will usually be some basic kit to borrow - ask your regular teacher where to buy equipment. It doesn't cost much and lasts for years.
